ProxyPass and forwarding

I need forward certain incoming requests to an external url with changes made to the url. Kirk's ProxyPass seems to fit the bill for the url rewriting, but it doesn't appear to handle forwarding to external addresses - unless I am missing something.

The ProxyPass wiki entry specifically says that it "does not actually alter the destination of the requests by default...To alter the destination pool see the next section". That section contains info on Dynamic Pool Selection and SNAT. I do not see a way to use ProxyPass to forward proxy a request to an external IP address. My goal is to not issue a 302 or 301 to the client, but to do an actual proxy through to the other IP address.

Can anyone help me? Are you out there Kirk?

  • Just noticed the question -- you probably already solved this by now, but the newer versions of ProxyPass (maybe even the one you had) allows you to set a pool based on the match -- and the pool can have whatever server IPs you want in it.
