Logging for LTM and APM

Hello,

I hope someone here migh have a quick command/reference for me to populate LTM and APM logs in big-ip f5 v 11.x.

I did look through some commands but none of them seems to work. We have two F5s one of them we have these two logs enabled but other one we dont, and I am trying to figure out how to do that.

I did comared the GUI between two f5s and I cannot see any difference so I know it was via tmsh but cannot remmeber the command....

Can someone please let me?

Thanks

  • There's a few different places that logging can be configured. Here are a few:

    1. In the GUI under System - Logs. You looked there.

    2. Some monitors have a debug option that will create a log file in /var/log.

    3. /etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf can be edited to produce/alter different logging for different events.

    4. TMSH DB variables. Do a 'tmsh list sys db | grep log' to see a general list of the different logging variables, and then 'tmsh show sys db [db name]' to show its value. These won't usually create new logs, but mostly control the verbosity of existing logs.
