SAPGUI Traffic

Hi,

In some of F5 documents on BIG-IP for SAP, I have seen mention of SAPGUI traffic. This gives the impression that F5 supports logon load balancing. Is this correct? Can SAPGUI be connected with BIG-IP and bypass message server based logon load balancing?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Shehryar, thanks for the question. BIG-IP plays a role in load balancing, accelerating and optimizing SAP-GUI traffic but can not support logon load balancing today. It has not been a feature we've heard a lot of interest about in recent years.

Where we have seen benefits for SAP GUI and BIG-IP have been the termination of the TCP connection in order to control and optimize long distance connections. In other words, BIG-IP can better handle TCP optimization than terminating the connections directly on the server.

How prevalent is your use of logon load balancing, how do you use it and how important a feature would this be to your organization?

    Thanks!

Hello, I know that this topic is an old one. However is it still not possible in 2015 to use BIG IP in order to replace the message server for SAP Logon load balancing ? My use case is that we need to give access to SAP GUI through the SAP portal, so i want to know if it is possible to use the BIG IP for that
