So far my testing shows a big improvement in speed over the perl implementation, but that could be my configuration.

I'd be interested in more details on the speed improvements you are seeing. Support for http keep-alive connections seems to be the biggest factor in the performace of a toolset in general (from what I've found). I'd be interested if the python implementation has that or if not, what is the overriding factor for the performance increase. If it is higher by an order of magnitude, then we might be tempted to include it in our supported toolset list and add samples to the sdk.
