Remote logging from multiple LTM's to the same TMM directory

I am currently in the process of configuring multiple redundant pairs of 6800 LTM's, all running 9.4.3 or later.

Have configured first pair to log remotely, which creates on the remote host 1x directory per hostname ( = 2x dir's ) and 1x directory labeled TMM. I have since tried, per doc instructions, to modify the syslog-ng.conf file on the active LB to recreate a TMM directory with a name more appropriate to the pair. This fails to work and i don't see anything in the forums related to this problem or to anyone having an issue with multiple Actives logging to the same host.

I'm worried about bringing the second pair online as they will also create a dir called TMM and file conflicts/overwrites will occur. I do want TMMM logs from each of my redundant pairs so I don't want to cut that config object set out of my syslog-ng.conf file.

So far i have found nothing related in the docs/topics but i may have not dug deep enough. Anyone have any insights and/or knowledge of previous forum threads/solution docs that address this.

thx.

  • Sorry, no fix on the LTM itself for this right now. Open a case and link to CR68870. This is considered an RFE, not a bug, so the more cases attached the more likely it will get integrated.

As a workaround, on your central logging server you could ensure each remote LTM logs to a separate file so you know which TMM messages came from. I think you have to set check_hostname and keep_hostname to no to avoid using TMM as the host in this case. Hope this helps.
