Manual Configuration Sync

i have two boxes of bigip, I'm trying to manual sync them through coping the files, i copied three files from original bigip (bigip.conf, bigip_base.conf, bigip_local.conf) everything seems great, but there is still some fields of configuration missing like SNAT, can you please guide me how to manual sync it, i dont have the permission to connect them to each other and do the sync.

  • Hi,

What are you trying to do with the two units? Do you want to copy the configuration exactly (both the base network and the shared configuration)? Or do you want to configure them as a redundant pair?

SNATs should be defined in the bigip.conf. How about creating a UCS on the first unit, manually copy it to the second unit and then run 'b load'? Assuming the hostnames of the two units are different, only the shared configuration would be loaded (not the bigip_base.comnf).

  • Hi Aaron,

thank you so much for responding, well i dont care what is and how is the way, all what i want is to be the second unit identical exactly as the first one. they will not run in pair or redundant. i just want them to be exactly the same configuration, of course they are the same hardware box.

can you please inform me of the way to do it.
  • Hi Tariqsako,

You can follow the steps outlined in SOL3499 (Click here) to create a UCS on the first unit and install it on the new unit. Just follow the steps as if you were installing it on an RMA replacement. Make sure to back up the license on the destination unit to /var/tmp/ and ideally off of the unit. When you are done installing the UCS on the new unit, copy the bigip.license file back to /config.
