Running F5 on Vmware instance

Can someone guide me how do we run a F5 latest version on a Vmware instance as this will just be for demo to test certain features.

  • I think public support for running a limited LTM version in vmware is coming soon, but from what I've heard it won't be free. You could contact your F5 account manager for details.

  • Apparently, there might actually be a free version. Your account manager should be able to give you details on dates and potential costs/licensing options.

  • I spoke with the product Manager for the LTM on VMware version so here is the skinny:

It will only offer LTM functionality (No other modules yet and it won't support SSL offloading amongst other things). The pricing and licensing costs are still in the process of being defined - that being said they are currently collecting user cases and feedback from certain customers about how they feel about a different cost models.

As Aaron had mention you can talk to your Account Manager and see if you speak with the Product Manager and if you have an expressive interest in Beta testing once it's available.
