supress/block some snmp traps on F5

Hi all

I would like to block some snmp traps received by our supervisory control.

When a pool member is down, i receive on supervision a trap like:

"bigipServiceUp: A service is detected UP"

It's so embarassing for us to receive these messages, so is it possible to prevent the F5 sending these traps.

what is the risk for doing that?

Thanks for your help!

  • Hi Tarma,

I can't see a downside to disabling the SNMP trap for this alert--other than the fact that you won't receive the trap anymore. There are a few related solutions you can check on AskF5.com for steps to disable the trap:

SOL6414 - Determining which alerts are pre-configured to trigger an SNMP trap

SOL3727 - Configuring custom SNMP traps

SOL3667 - Configuring SNMP trap alerts to send email notifications
