Type of persistence to use

Hi all,

I've a design issue configuring my F5 BIG IP.

Server IP and VIP are on the same subnet, therefore source nat is used.

We have to balance http (non https) and need to persist the http session.

Which type of persistence we can use?

Many many thanks for the help.

Bye,

Stefano

  • Hi Stefano,

SNAT doesn't prevent you from using any persistence option. Source address persistence is handled before the SNAT is applied to the server side connection. Cookie insert is simple and effective as the client stores the persistence record and it's specific to the browser session instead of the client IP address as in source address persistence.
