slow start for member going up in a pool

Hi,

does anyone know if there is a way to configure a member in a pool so when it goes up there is some delay in forwarding new connection to it?

Kind of slow start.

The configuration is that there is vserver with one member in a pool that is being killed by traffic when it goes up and full traffic goes to it.

Unfortunately there is no way to have more member in that pool to spread the traffic.

cheers

  • Hi Maz,

Coincidentally, there is just such a feature called 'slow ramp', but I'm not sure what impact it would have if there is just one pool member in the pool. You could enable the option on the pool and test this.

    From the online help:

    Slow Ramp Time

The duration during which the system sends less traffic to a newly-enabled pool member. The amount of traffic is based on the ratio of how long the pool member has been available compared to the slow ramp time, in seconds. Once the pool member has been online for a time greater than the slow ramp time, the pool member receives a full proportion of the incoming traffic. Slow ramp time is particularly useful for the least connections load balancing mode
