Ping from External network to Internal Network without using VIP.

Hi,

I want ping from External network device to Internal network device , without using VIP. Is it possible, if yes how I can configure. I have bluecoat server in my Internal network of F5 and my PC is in external network. I am using VIP for bluecoat for load balance. Now my client request my external client can ping to internal Bluecoat device without using a VIP.

Kindly advice.

  • Thanks of reply, Is there any other way without configuring a VIP, physial External client ( External vlan)can ping to Physical Server on Internal Vlan.

  • If not a VIP, then a NAT is really the only other way. Otherwise you'd need to route around the BIG-IP.

Arun, note that a Virtual Server and VIP are not the same thing. You can define a Forwarding Virtual Server representing the whole internal network range you want to have reachable.

Of course, just like a router, the host you are pinging from (or its gateway) will need to have the BIG-IP's Self IP as its route for that internal network.
