Location redirection

Is there a pro/con on leveraging either GTM or iRule for geo-location, or am I understanding the design documents wrong. *GTM > Global Traffic > Topology vs *https://devcentral.f5.com/wiki/APM.GeoRedirection.ashx

Are you asking if there is a better way of doing things? If GTM is better than an iRule for geolocation? The short answer is: no, not really. The longer answer is: There are times where each would make more sense, and if you want to describe how you're doing things so we can offer more insight, thats completely fine and we can have that conversation. It is much more a conversation about which makes more sense from a design perspective, though, and not so much from a performance or functionality stance, as those things will be all but negligible in difference.

Colin - thank you for your reply. We have 2 VMware Horizon View 5.2 regions (Boston & NY). Each region has 1 GTM and 2 LTM's (11.4) in HA config. We have a single namespace for the entire country (LAN & WAN). Users on the WAN should hit the single namespace. verify their RSA token then based on AD security Group be forwarded to the appropriate region (which presents the View pool/vm they are entitled to). If that “preferred” region is unavailable the LTM/APM should forward them to the region which is available. The LAN single namespace access will merely check security group membership and forward the user to their preferred region. We have an iApp (v1.0 rc3) in configured, but the security group check and redirection piece based on that is not working properly. ~best regards ~Jeff
