LTM issue for RTMF cisco protocol

Hi All,

We have recently configured LTM for reverse proxy. We have one cisco show and share application whose lending page published on 443, which contains some video and for that video streaming, it uses CISCO propriety protocol RTMF on port 1935. we are facing issue in implementation, as we are able to get landing page but not able to open any video. Is that RTMF (Cisco propriety protocol) supported by F5 LTM? Anybody has configured it?

Your support is highly appreciated.

do you have a VIP listening on port 1935? With out a VIP on 1935 or a VIP listening to all ports the f5 will not send traffic to the Cisco.

  • I saw something similar implementing CUP and voice mail servers. Do the http watch and as Richard mention you need that VIP and more if you see other calls on different ports in http watch.
  • Thanks for your valuable comments. Will do that and share the results. Hope it should work.

    Thank you.

  • Hello Richard/ Ronak,

I have one query for VIP configuration. Should i have to call(add) VIP_1935 in Irule of VIP_443? Else how does it will be redirected on same page when i hit on any Video.? If i will simply create VIP for 1935 and add pool of 1935 in it, than how does it will work?

    Thanx.

  • hi Naumin, From what I understand you have one VIP listening on 443 and another listening on 1395. The client would have his/her browser use the 1395 port when it's directed by the Webpage. That is usually the behavior I have seen.

    I hope this helps, -=Bhattman=-

  • Hello Bhattman,

Yes u may be correct... but what am asking here is for just redirection to other port, do I hav to compulsory create separate vip or any other alternative?

  • Yes it's possible to redirect to another port from say HTTP or HTTPS. For example if a client clicks on a link that sends you to a video you can re-write the URL so that it goes to a different port.

    I hope that helps
