APM and portal resource DNS resolution

Hi,

I'm configuring a portal on APM for testing, thus the URI of the resources are created on standalnoe DNS. I've the corporate DNS servers already configured in APM (i.e system - device - DNS)

My question is: could I instruct the APM to ask the standalone DNS for resolution if not answered ask the other corporate DNS servers (sort like DNS primary/secondaey)

Although I tried putting the standard DNS at the top of the list, APM just seems to query DNS servers randomly (verified ny packet capture)

one more thing, it seems that APM doesn't take the static host files when trying to resolve portal resources.

any idea how can I solve this issue ?

thanks a lot

  • Unfortunately there currently isn't really a good way to control this on the BIG-IP itself. You'll have to use some kind of DNS server or GTM or irules or other technique to perform the task you describe.

Well that's a bummer, actually even static host configuration doesn't seem to work, I wonder why!

      thanks a lot
