Scaning for Viruses in F5

Hi, my organization currently runs a legacy system of virus scanning behind the F5 where the virus scanning occurs in each application instead of centrally. We are looking to move to a more central virus detection system. I wish to find out if virus scanning is implemented in any of the F5 modules. Currently we have licenses for the LTM, ASM, and AVR. How can we scan all inbound traffic for viruses centrally/in the F5? And do we need a separate module or is that already implemented in any of the modules we currently have licenses for?

  • Virus Scanning should really be taken care of at the hosts themselves too. If you want to flag traffic from possibly infected hosts you want an IDS or WAF.

If you need a WAF then your ASM module is the f5 product to get.

  • Hi,

There is no big ip product including antivirus feature.

But you can forward upload post to an icap server within asm or ltm products.

The icap server will answer if the content contains a virus or not.
