BIP-IP / antivirus integration

Hello,

 

I'm trying to figure out how to integrate an antivirus (Symantec Protection Engine) with our BIP-IP 11.6. From what I have seen on DevCentral and other sources, there are two ways to integrate antivirus protection :

 

- using ASM

 

- using the LTM and creating custom Request Adapt profiles and custom internal Virtual Servers to forward ICAP request to Symantec.

 

It seems that we have experienced BIP-IP memory issues in the past when using ASM. I was told by the previous admin that it was a known issue with this BIP-IP version (sending 10 files of 10Mb was resulting in BIP-IP crash). We had a workaround in place where we were using iRules to redirect specific uploads to the antivirus... and thus bypassing the ASM engine (I would like to avoid doing this).

 

Can you help me on this, do you have a feedback to share ?

    In order to provide an answer on this we will need more information regarding the BiGIP device such as version, provisioning and ASM configuration. If ASM is experiencing Memory issues please open a support case and provide the asmqkview to further troubleshoot this.
