Failover scenario

We have a setup with 3 f5 appliances. Two in DC and one in DR. All the three are in cluster with 4 traffic groups. Traffic group 1,2,3 is active on the DC appliance while traffic group 4 is active on the DR appliance. There is activity which would disrupt the HA link between the DC appliances and DR appliances. We do not want the traffic groups in DC to become active in DR and vice versa during the activity. What would be best option to perform in order to avoid the failover.

  • I think, to keep it simple, disabling the VIPs on the DR F5s during the activity would ensure that the traffic does not go to the DR F5 but is dealt by the ones in DC. But also make sure that you make the process of config synchronisation among the F5s as manual.
