Which address to configure for configsync?

According to: SOL13946: Troubleshooting ConfigSync and device service clustering issues (11.x)

"Self IP addresses for ConfigSync must be defined and routable between device group members. F5 recommends that the addresses reside on a dedicated HA VLAN."

From Manual Chapter: Working with DSC Devices:

"By default, the system uses the self IP address of VLAN internal. This is the recommended IP address to use for config sync."

Obviously both will do, but to split hairs a bit, what are the pros and cons of each?

Jie - my thoughts / 2c on this are as follows.

Pros of HA VLAN - no further overhead on the TMM interfaces, which you want to leave alone, where possible, for application traffic. If utilisation is high on these TMM interfaces then this does not affect the failover traffic and cause problems here either.

F5 recommend, I believe, that the HA VLANs are directly connected - if you follow this practice then this further isolates outside network infrastructure issues from these key failover services.

    Hope this is useful,
