sync additional info...

I've been prettty active on here pestering the gurus on how to write custom scripts to add apps and change things on bulk pools... What I am wondering is now that I have a few of these scripts that do what I need to do, where can I put them on my primary so they will be synced to my secondary? I saw an article about the cs.dat file but I think that is just for your backup right? (This is something I also need) but when I put stuff there I don't see it showing up in my secondary.

As always, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Joe

  • I pretty sure anything placed in local user directories is sync'd (test and check) and I'm 100% sure they are backed up in a UCS archive. I used to put scripts in /home/admin. Of course, if any of these scripts need to actually run on the secondary, make sure any hostname is configured as a variable!
  • I tried adding a file to /home/admin and when I forced a sync it didn't show up on the secondary. I am thinking there is probably a file that you can edit to tell it what to sync?

  • how configsync works in 10.x and 11.x is different. device service clustering/centralized management infrastructure (cmi) has been introduced in 11.x. in 10.x, ucs file is copied over to another unit when running configsync.
  • Hi Joe, unfortunately nitass is correct. I'm unaware of any way to sync files via the ConfigSync utility in v11. You could probably come up with a solution utilizing crontab and rsync if you really want to automate synchronization of these files. There is some information on how to modify crontab here:

I've not looked myself... The subject hasn't come up here. But I have no doubt it will...

Obviously files to get copied... All the external DG's and certs are copied for example... And iFiles... APM customisations etc... Maybe that mechanism could be mangled...

  • Obviously files to get copied... All the external DG's and certs are copied for example... And iFiles... APM customisations etc... i think external data group, ifile are copied because they are imported via file management. does APM customization have to be imported as well?

Maybe that mechanism could be mangled... i hope so but i have not yet found a way.
