LTM - Node status

Hello,

I tried to search but maybe I wasn't doing right to get the info. I'm looking for the operational details of a node status

(up/down/forces down) and session ( enabled/disabled )combination.

Does anyone know where I can find this information?

Is the same info applicable to pool members?

Thanks

  • I don't see it in the manual or am I missing it?

I'm looking for the info co-relating with the sessions enabled/disabled for every status of node ( up/down/forced down)

  • Can someone please confirm the following node status meaning is correct or not?

NODE 1.2.3.4 DOWN SESSIONS ENABLED or DISABLED

=> The node is DOWN (or even FORCED DOWN), no requests are serviced, even though new sessions are configured as enabled.

If above statement is true, can we say the connections will be cut-off as soon as the node status changed to "DOWN" ?

  • this is what i understand

    in case of forced offline

When set to Forced Offline, a node or pool member allows existing connections to time out, but no new connections are allowed.sol7566: Disabling nodes or pool members for maintenance (9.x - 10.x)

  • Thanks. I don't have "action on service down" setup.

How frequently does LTM check the status of the node through the monitor ( let's say a TCP monitor )?

Does LTM mark the node "down" on the first status check failure through the monitor or does it retry for a few times?

    Thanks a lot
