Dual Webtop XenApp 6.5 and XenDesktop 5.6

I'd like to know if it is possible to have both XenApp AND XenDesktop in the same page (1 or 2 webtops assigned to the APM policy).

I've used the iAPP to create the webtop for my XenApp. Everything is okay, but I need to add the XenDesktop infrastructure ine the webtop (or assigna second webtop to the same APM).

Any help would be helpful.

Thanks

  • Yes, you can certainly do that. Just uncheck the Strict option for iApp first, then create another Citrix Resource(similar to the way iApp created one for XenApp) and point it to your XenDesktop DDC. Then go to the VPE and assign that Citrix Resource in addition to the XenApp resource - you don't need another webtop - just adding that new Citrix Resource under Full Resource Assignment action should be enough.
  • I created the VS, The Pool and the nodes.

When I try it with web interface (Citrix) it works. But When I define a remote desktop ressource and assign it to the Policy. I have a 400 bad request answer... and I don't see all my desktops assigned.
  • Are you sure you're pointing to the DDC XML port? Are you defining the DDC by the name or IP address? Make sure the definition matches what you put in. If you verify that Citrix Resource is configured with the proper port and IP(I suggest using IP address and making sure that IP address option instead of hostname is selected). If this still not helping, get a tcpdump between BIG-IP and the DDC and open a support case(or post sanitized request/response from the tcpdump here for review).
  • Is it normal that it's not in the same Partition / Path as the XenApp Remote Desktop Ressource?
  • I have a logon fail... that may be the reason... but why it doesn't parse the credentials why with XenApp, it does?

Yes, this is normal. iApp currently creates a folder, but UI does not allow creating objects within that .app folder. That said, you can still reference/use objects that are created in the same partition as where the iApp was deployed or in the Common partition.

You get Logon fail on the APM or on the XenDesktop side? Can you please clarify the exact error and where it is displayed?

  • I finally found what it was...

As Netbios name, I have to put the UPN Name (Instead of "mvtcomp", it has to be "mvt.company.dev")

XenDesktop 5.6 needs to run with UPN, not domain\username.

Thank you Michael, it has been appreciated :D
