The problem is, the backend server sends a response with http uri within the payload back to the sharepoint server. I need to be able to change that response uri from http to https
Is it a specific response URI that you want to change from HTTP to HTTPS, or do you want to change all content references to HTTP resources to HTTPS? Depending on your answer there are lots of alternatives. One might be to add an HSTS header to the client-side response, forcing the client's browser to then internally "redirect" HTTP requests for particular domains to HTTPS.

NimbostratusPrior to implementing F5, the SharePoint server connected to backend server using http and the backend server would send url within payload back to sharepoint server, the url is http. Now with Client connecting to F5 via https, then F5 connecting to backend on http port 50000. The backend server sends message back to F5-Sharepoint with url using http. I need to catch that response and change the url in payload from http to https

in the end the best would be for sharepoint to not offer such URI and so do look into that also.
