F5 and SMB v1

We are looking to disable SMB v1 but I see the F5 is still talking on it. Is there a place you can disable v1 or will the F5 automatically switch to v2.

  • Are you referring to NTLM authentication and SMBv1? From 15.0.0 SMBv1 is no longer used when using NTLM auth. All older versions are using SMBv1. SMBv2 isn't supported. See the release notes from 15.0.0 on SMBv1 below.

    NTLM Authentication enhancement

Microsoft has deprecated SMBv1 due to security impacts. F5's NTLM authentication no longer uses SMBv1. We now implement MSRPC over TCP.

    Hi Niels,

Yes this is what I was referring to. Thank you for the clarification.
