Cannot edit endings in APM

Hi,

One of our customer created a APM policy and added an extra ending which is a redirect. Something went wrong and now customer has Allow, Deny and Deny 1 as endings and wants to change the Deny 1 ending into a Redirect. But when he clicks on Edit Endings he gets the following error:

"Ending 0 doesn't have necessary information (endingEntry_class.parseParamsNodeToObject(): one of parameters for parse are invalid, Cannot read property 'data' of null)... Dialogue loading has failed."

All other APM policies on the same system do not have this issue.

Exporting and importing the APM policy does not solve the issue.

Copying the policy does not solve the issue.

Customer is on 13.1.0.6 Build 0.0.3

We believe recreating the APM policy will solve this, but customer would like to know what could be the cause of this message? Any ideas?

Regards,

Martijn.

  • Try this.

    • Anywhere that the Deny1 ending is being used, replace with Deny.
    • Delete Deny1
  • Hi,

Did you try to just delete this ending (deny 1) without deleting the full APM policy. Then create a new wanting ending (redirect).

in any case you are not supposed to have a java error that tells you that a value is null. I advise you to open a ticket if you want to know the root cause of the problem.

The only times I had similar problems,It was when I working on policies that I copied (several copies on the same device)...

Maybe kevin can check in F5 internal base...

  • Hi, I just started having this issue as well on one of my policies.

Only difference is mine says Ending 1 instead of ending 0. We are running 13.1.0.6 Build 0.61.3.

Is it possible to identify which ending is ending 0 for example, then delete the ending in tmsh? Like Martijn said, we cannot edit through the GUI as that is where the error is.

Just an update.. I made a copy of my policy that was having issues

I went into tmsh and looked around at my apm agent policies with endings, they all looked fine. I went ahead and deleted a couple of my deny endings that have URL redirections using.

    delete apm policy policy-item *policyname*_end_*policyendingname*

I'm not sure why deleting these worked, but I am able to now open the edit menu.

However, when I try to re-add them, or any type of ending with the redirect option, the issue comes back with the edit menu.

If I try to add a redirect ending to any other policy, the issue starts occurring.

I put a ticket in with support, and they stated that this is a known bug that was fixed with the release of 13.1.0.8.

I'm going attempt to upgrade to 13.1.1 to resolve my issue.

      Hi,

Thanks for the update. This was going to be our next step. Involve support.

Let us know if the upgrade solved the issue.

      Regards,

      Martijn.
