VIP requirement

HI Team,

I have 2 sharepoint servers (10.1.1.1, 10.1.1.2) running with following applications on port 80, newapp.dev.xyz.com newReportcenter.dev.xyz.com newsharepoint.dev.xyz.com mysite-sharepoint.dev.xyz.com

Now i need to create VIP for all this pages on loadbalancers, can i able to map to all pages under single VIP? will it work? newapp.dev.xyz.com - 10.0.0.1(VIP) pool: newapp.dev.xyz.com:80 members 10.1.1.1, 10.1.1.2 newReportcenter.dev.xyz.com - 10.0.0.1(VIP) pool:newReportcenter.dev.xyz.com:80 members 10.1.1.1, 10.1.1.2 newsharepoint.dev.xyz.com - 10.0.0.1(VIP) pool:newsharepoint.dev.xyz.com:80 members 10.1.1.1, 10.1.1.2 mysite-sharepoint.dev.xyz.com - 10.0.0.1(VIP) pool: mysite-sharepoint.dev.xyz.com:80 members 10.1.1.1, 10.1.1.2

Why not? VIP does not operates with domain names, it operates with port and IP.

If all your websites operates on the same IP and port, you can create one VIP and assign one pool for all your websites.

  • Hi,

    Please follow below procedure

    Create any pool(eg-abc_80) with node 1 --(10.1.1.1) and node 2 (10.1.1.2)

then create VIP with port 80 service

for example VIP is multiple_sites_80 with IP address 192.168.1.10

select port 80 as services and apply pool into the VIP config .

Then contact to DNS team and ask them to create entry for VIP 192.168.1.10 and map below FQDN with it

    newapp.dev.xyz.com newReportcenter.dev.xyz.com newsharepoint.dev.xyz.com mysite-sharepoint.dev.xyz.com

If you want to access it from outside world then entry should be external otherwise internal or may be both as per your requirement .
