Connection Limit on a Node

I have set the connection limit on a pool member to "1", for the purpose of testing I've disabled other members on the pool to see what happens to connections more than 1. There were 7 unique connections on the VIP all going to the one active pool members that has a connection limit of 1. This is a Viprion Hardware with 9 tmms, does any one know if there is a minimum number we can set for the connection limit ? should it be more than the number of tmms ?

  • This should be related to CMP (Clustered Multiprocessing). By default CMP is enabled for VS. And based on the number of tmm's thats available, the connections are distributed evenly.

Refer this Article - K8457: Connection limits for a CMP system are enforced per TMM instance

Note: With very low connection limits, or if the number of connections is low compared to the number of TMM instances, the system may appear to enforce lower than expected connection limits. In addition, F5 does not recommend that you configure a connection limit to a number lower than the number of TMM instances supported by the platform; doing so may result in unpredictable connection counts.
