Is it possible to create a Virtual Server only for Redirection ?

Hello,

 

Need a tip here.

 

Is it possible to create a Virtual Server only for Redirection ? Client wants to use F5 only to redirect to a link once there is a hit to URI of the VIP. I know that when we create Web type Virtual Server there is automatically a Redirect Virtual Server is created but that does not have any resources ( pools ) assigned.

 

I believe this will be the same but I need to make an irule or LTM Policy for the redirection. Please advise.

    Hi,

    I'm a little confuse, sorry.

    Is it not a case to create a simple Standard virtual server with some HTTP profile attached, with some rule/policy to redirect traffic when a condition was reached? If so, you need help to create an IRule or policy. Is it your need?

    Hello,

     

    You can create a VS for redirects and just leave no default pool behind it. You would then need to attached an iRule for your redirect to the VS. Any traffic that is not caught by iRule would just fall off as there is no pool assigned to the VS.
