With generic host any LTM or GTM may ping it. If any LTM has no access to the monitoring IP, it will be red.

You may need to configure prober pool https://support.f5.com/csp/article/K08433560

  • Hi,

when I add the virtual server at the generic host with its IP it gives up state

but when I add it with nat ip it gives down state

so how can I add it with nating

  • When you add a generic server and give a monitor to it, its a monitor which is for the virtual servers in it. So the status of the generic server comes from the status of the virtual servers configured inside it.

Before you add the virtual server, make sure its reachable from your GTM. Else it would be down.

Try basic ping and tcp checks with the Ip you are planning to put.

In case you are planning to put the NAT'ed IP, the NAT IP would traverse through a firewall, you may need to whitelist the source IP of the GTM which does the probing, else it would block it.
