Big IP APM end user usage reporting

Hi All,

 

I want to periodically create an end-user usage report for our Big IP APM appliance. In this report I wan t to create an overview of all sessions of certain end-users including the duration for each session. Is there already something available to create such an overview? If not how can I best approach this to create my custom report?

    Hey guys,

     

    I contacted F5 support back in March (2015) asking for a similar feature. I had asked for APM "Total time used by users by application" within a specified date/time range.

     

    F5 support provided me with two RFE IDs:

     

    1. [495463] Provide a "Session End Time" report field to use as report column.
    2. [510419] Display overall session time as well as specific APM resource usage times. Ex: display APM resources usage duration by user (i.e. VPN, Remote Desktop, Citrix, etc.)

    I haven't see either of these IDs in recent release notes. I've been manually parsing syslogs to gather some of this data, with very limited success.

     

    Has anyone created any useful reports in Splunk?

    Hi Rob,

     

    Your best bet for customized reporting is to send the logs off to a SIEM like Splunk. You can then use Splunk to create all kinds of reports.
