configuration changes lost after activating hot fix

Hi, we're running v12 HF1 (on HD1.1) and installed v12 HF2 on HD1.2. We delayed the activation of HF2 1 week after the installation. Then after booting to HF2 on HD1.2, configuration changes made after installing HF2 was lost. Found that those lost changes are in /config of HD1.1 (/dev/mapper/vg--db--vda-set.1._config).

Would like to ask if it's correct that we've to either of following?

  • activate the new hotfix/version right after installation; or
  • freeze any configuration change after installation of new hotfix/version until it's activated

Thanks and Regards, /ST Wong

  • The configuration snapshot will be taken at the moment of installation, and any changes thereafter will not be included.

In addition to your own options, you can also roll-over the current configuration prior to switching to a new partition. This would allow you to postpone the activation of new HF. If you navigate to

    Boot Location
, and modify the boot partition; at least all of the recent BigIP versions will ask you if you want to install configuration or not. That's where you should say "Yes" if the activation of HF was postponed.
