I generally recommend to have the virtual server IPs configured on a network that does not exist elsewhere. This eliminates the need for the BIG-IP to gratuitously ARP for virtual server IPs, which in large configurations could be viewed as a flood, and most firewalls are designed to drop GARP. The only requirement is to configure a static route from the upstream L3 device to the floating IP of the BIG-IP for the subnet that you are using for virtual server IPs.
