proxy and interconnect help

We are expanding our F5 use to more than just load balancing and I am working on a Proxy/Interconnect option for one of our apps and am trying to figure out the best use for the following type setup. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated., PLease see attachment for proposed layout. Thanks Shane

  • Can you provide some detail on what you are trying to achieve please? Are you just looking to load balance to the Interconnect servers?
  • Sorry about that. I guess more info is needed.

Yes, we would like to load balance both the Interconnect and Soap proxy. Also Is there a way F5 can ping/check a web service to make sure it is active on the interconnect?

    Thanks
  • So according to your diagram, you haves BIG-IPin front of the proxy and another in front of the interconnect. Is there a 1-to-1 relationship between a proxy and interconnect? If not, it should be pretty straight forward. Load balance the proxies and interconnects independently. If there is a dependency, you may want to consider a transparent monitor "through" each proxy to the interconnects. As far as monitoring, it depends on the object being monitored. A web services monitor would probably look like a normal HTTP monitor.
