Loadbalancing Exchange 2016

Hi,

my colleagues from the exchange team are currently migrating from Exchange 2010 to 2016. As always, they forgot to tell the networking team...so I have to set up loadbalancing for Exchange 2016 right now.

I am now looking for some information to the loadbalancing of 2016. I did not find any documents/whitepapaers on this topic. There is no iAPP for 2016 either.

The exchange guys told me, that 2016 is mainly like 2013. So...can I handle 2016 just like 2013 and even use the 2013-iAPP?

I would appreciate any advice or documentation on this topic.

Thanks in advance

Regards, Thorsten

Hi Thorsten, we are currently working on an iApp for 2016. Until then, you should be able to use the 2013 iApp and make the necessary adjustments (in the deployment guide) for MAPI-over-HTTP if you are using it.

  • We haven't had any issues with 2016 -- we've used the same simple (non-iAPP) https and imaps virtuals with source-ip persistence since Exchange 2007 with no issues. The only changes over time were to add a SNAT pool with an iRule from devcental for 'SNAT persistence'.

Could you please explain what was the reason to add a SNAT? Is it a different topology for 2016 comparing to 2007 deployement? Thank you
  • Hi guys,

    thanks for your answers.

@mike: Is there any planned release date for the 2016 iAPP yet?

    Regards,

Not yet. We will most likely publish a release candidate to DevCentral first, so keep an eye out for it there.
