Mac High Sierra (10.13) VPN issue (v13)

We're currently dealing with an issue with Macs upgraded to High Sierra (10.13) failing to connect to the VPN when going through a home router attached to a cable modem (either via wireless or directly connected). Connecting directly to the cable modem and using VPN works fine, however (have two different instances of this so far). Testing connected to a DSL line works fine. One user sent me a log file from the VPN client, but it's not very "verbose" compared to one from a Windows client, basically saying failure occurred - tunnel interrupted - unknown error. =/

Has anyone else run into this? If so, did you resolve it? I'm guessing a fix would involved a config option on the home router, or possibly the Mac.

Thanks!

  • Note: This issue does not occur when using a High Sierra Mac using the Edge Client and plugged into a home router connected to a DSL/cable modem, and connecting to our test VPN running 11.5.4 (HF1). Also worked on our test Fortinet VPN using Safari.
